Almost Finished!

Sorry I don’t have a picture — I will very soon!  My Brussels Lace Camisole is so close to being finished!  I just have to sew up the sides and weave in the ends!  I’ll add a picture as soon as I finish it and can get online.  As you’ll see, I’ve made a LOT of alterations to it.  It’s almost a completely different pattern now — it uses a totally different yarn, has a different number of stitches, and also has a different neckline.  Just a few more alterations and I could sell it as a new pattern — just kidding!!!

My little brother has been preparing for his website’s birthday.  He baked a cake in celebration and stuff.  It’s going to be the site’s second birthday.  Tomorrow he is going to bake some cupcakes to go along with it — yummy!

Yesterday I received a letter from my penpal.  She is someone that I met on my trip to California — she’s one of my aunt’s friend’s kids, if that makes any sense.  She’s the oldest of the five kids but she is three years younger than me.  She’s homeschooled (even though her dad works at the high school).  She’s a lot different than me, but hey, it’s a lot of fun to get some mail!!

Two of the plants in our yard died from some sort of heatstroke yesterday.  We broke a 90 year record, so it’s quite understandable.  One cucumber and our winter squash died.  The other two cucumbers are thriving — they are enjoying what their companion despised most of all.  They’re all the same variety, too!

Ok so I tried to schedule an appointment for my haircut today and every day that I COULD go they have booked!  Arrgh.  I hope we can work out something, but I might not be able to get my hair cut until AFTER school starts. GRR.

Out of yarn!

Ok, so you CAN make a scarf out of just two balls of Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk (or whatever it’s called), but it would only be a 48 inch long scarf.  I discovered that yesterday.  I had found a substitute for my white yarn, because it was running out, but when I realized I couldn’t finish my stripe with my gray yarn, I was kind of upset.  It was supposed to be the last stripe with gray, so that the scarf would be more like four and a half or five feet, but that didn’t work.  So, we are going to order another ball of gray.  My substitute yarn is working fine though, so I won’t worry about getting more white.

In the mean time, I went into my room and picked up a bag of what I thought was our only remaining stash (I’ve busted the stash a few too many times).  Surprise!  Turns out THAT wasn’t even stash — it was a Fibonacci scarf that I had been working on awhile ago (last winter when I went to Florida).  I’m going to try and finish that up, maybe today.  Then I will scoure down the last remaining balls of yarn in the house and make something out of Handknit Holidays.  I don’t want to start too late on my Christmas presents, because once school starts, it’s impossible to get very much done.

I’m not sure I’ll get around to that today though.  I have to write three thank you cards for birthday presents (my cards are starting to get overdue) and make two phone calls to friends from camp who called while I was on vacation.  Although that I might put off a little…I really feel like knitting!

And I’m off…

I believe this will be the last you hear of me.  I’m off to Cali soon!  Thanks for all the great comments and advice!  I definintely will enjoy the trip and the advice has already been quite helpful!

I started working on a little purse for another one of my younger cousins.  So many presents!  I think I’ll be able to get it done during the long drive, along with finishing my scarf.  I’m going to have to mix in some straight alpaca yarn with my Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette because either I got too much grey or not enough white, but either way I have more grey than white and I need it the other way around for what I’m doing.  I’m planning on having a white stripe on both ends and then lots of white fringe, just like some of the vintage scarves.  I could stop early, but that yarn is so nice and there’d be so little left that I’d have a hard time coming up with what to do with it, and so I might as well finish it off now!

I got some new Suzuki viola books last night for my birthday, another gifts from my parents.  I alwlays love getting new music and practicing the new songs!  It finally got me to get out my instrument after a month’s break, since June was too busy to practice and I haven’t been much in the habit after that.  I think I’ll practice much more after we return from our trip!  My friend and I also have to study some Spanish (we’re trying to skip from Spanish II to Spanish III)…

See you in a few weeks!

Quick Post!

Hey, sorry about not posting much today — never got a chance to get online!

Anyways, I had a fantastic birthday yesterday!  I had pasta primavera for dinner (my favorite food!), along with french bread and salad!  Yummy!  For dessert we had dark chocolate cake with vanilla icing and rainbow sprinkles, along with some chocolate ice cream!

My best friend Adri came by and suprised me with some birthday presents!  She gave me a really cute shirt from Forever 21 and an AWESOME bag that says “I love my planet” around a peace sign!  Yay!  I also got a gift card to American Eagle and a book that should be very helpful in my TYEC meetings from my parents!

Something funny that I found out was that even though my birthday is on July 6, when I moved, the time-zone change made it so that in central time I was actually born on July 7, so I guess, if I wanted, I could celebrate my birthday two days in a row!  Cool!

I’ve been working on the little vest for my cousins today!  I’ll finish sometime tomorrow I am pretty sure!

I just finished reading Heidi!  It was a great book!  Now I REALLY want to go to Switzerland!  I remember how I used to watch the movie all the time when I went to my grandparents’ house, but I never really remembered how the story went.  Now that I’ve read the book, I like it even more!

I’ll update you with more tomorrow!  Good night!
