Sorry I don’t have a picture — I will very soon! My Brussels Lace Camisole is so close to being finished! I just have to sew up the sides and weave in the ends! I’ll add a picture as soon as I finish it and can get online. As you’ll see, I’ve made a LOT of alterations to it. It’s almost a completely different pattern now — it uses a totally different yarn, has a different number of stitches, and also has a different neckline. Just a few more alterations and I could sell it as a new pattern — just kidding!!!
My little brother has been preparing for his website’s birthday. He baked a cake in celebration and stuff. It’s going to be the site’s second birthday. Tomorrow he is going to bake some cupcakes to go along with it — yummy!
Yesterday I received a letter from my penpal. She is someone that I met on my trip to California — she’s one of my aunt’s friend’s kids, if that makes any sense. She’s the oldest of the five kids but she is three years younger than me. She’s homeschooled (even though her dad works at the high school). She’s a lot different than me, but hey, it’s a lot of fun to get some mail!!
Two of the plants in our yard died from some sort of heatstroke yesterday. We broke a 90 year record, so it’s quite understandable. One cucumber and our winter squash died. The other two cucumbers are thriving — they are enjoying what their companion despised most of all. They’re all the same variety, too!
Ok so I tried to schedule an appointment for my haircut today and every day that I COULD go they have booked! Arrgh. I hope we can work out something, but I might not be able to get my hair cut until AFTER school starts. GRR.

I’ve gotten lots of knitting stuff done today! I cast off my scarf last night and did the finishing this morning. It looks way better now that I’ve finished it, compared to right when I cast off. Here are some pictures (sorry, it’s too long to get the whole scarf in one picture!):
I had to hold up the ends so that you could see a little more of the stripy detail. Of course, a majority of the scarf is wrapped around my neck.
I had to fold it in half, wrap it around my neck, pull the ends through, and then wrap it around again to keep it from dragging on the ground!
After stitching that all up, I decided to start some Christmas projects at last. I once again got quite delayed, but I think it was all for the best! I ended up going through much of my mom’s remaining stash, and she let me take whatever I wanted. I took two bags full of yarn, which included three big balls of Love from Filatura Di Crosa, in a nice light blue color. Even though it’s not the exact yarn requested, and we had to edit the pattern quite a bit to make it work properly, I have begun knitting it into the Brussels Lace Camisole from Handknit Holidays by Melanie Falick. I have wanted to make that cami ever since we got the book, and while hunting through the book for a project that would work well with my stash, inspiration sparked. I’ve only done eight rows so far, but here’s how it’s looking:
I think you can see the lace pattern better when it's knit up with this yarn, except it is a little fuzzy.
When we visited some of my relatives last Christmas, my aunt told us lots about when she was in Belgium for awhile. It definitely sounds like a very fun place, and even though she spent most of her time Antwerp, that still made me even more interested in knitting it.
I am really excited! I’m going to get a nice new haircut for back-to-school, from a new hairstylist! I’m getting it from the one that my friend goes to, and she loves it! (She also has a really cute haircut, so I think I can trust this lady) I’m thinking of getting those side swept bangs, layers, and tapering (maybe), if it looks good. I am kind of worried about getting bangs — I’ve noticed lots of people are starting to pull their hair back in a way that mimics the bangs but isn’t (if you get what I mean), which is what I have been doing. Oh well, I’m planning on just asking the stylist to see what she thinks will look best.
I’ve been making more smoothies (well, more like milkshakes) today, and I discovered how to make a frappuccino! Yum yum! No more overpriced Starbucks…except I did get a coupon for a $2 grande after 2 pm…
Anyways, I’m going to go finish stuff up online here so that I can get back to my knitting!
